Kobelco : Stand No. F1202 (Outside Area)

KOBELCO CRANES is pleased to announce its participation at bauma 2010 to be held in Munich, Germany from 19th up to 25th April 2010. KOBELCO looks forward to welcoming relations and customers from all over the world at its booth F1202 (Open Area).

KOBELCO has an 80-year tradition as a manufacturer of construction equipment. Using the advanced R&D and production technologies that have been built up over a long history, KOBELCO designs and manufactures cranes that meet modern site requirements and anticipate future trends.
One of the impressive new cranes in the latest range of super large sized crawler crane is the SL6000 which made its world debut at bauma 2007. These KOBELCO ‘SL’ cranes are ideally suited to the installation of modern windmills for clean energy generation, and other large-scale environmental applications. Their outstanding lifting performance and easy transportability have made them a popular choice.
KOBELCO always believes that its mission is to create innovative products well matched to customer’s requirements.
At this year’s exhibition, KOBELCO CRANES is presenting again the SL6000 with a new attachment for wind power generation that makes it even more versatile on site. At the same time KOBELCO is offering more “eco-friendly” options on its existing crane model CKE800, such as the availability of biodegradable-oils.

The Kobelco Cranes display at bauma includes:

  • SL6000: The base model of the SL6000, which was first shown at bauma 2007, already comes with a wide variety of boom and counterweight configurations, including an 84m maximum main boom and 84m luffing jib combination, giving an impressive range of maximum height and reach combinations.
As well as outstanding overall lifting performance, key features of the SL6000 include an efficient 329kW Tier III diesel engine, a variable-displacement hydraulic pump system with six individual pumps, and convenient, accessible boom-mounted winches.

The largest UK specialist crawler crane hire company, WELDEX International has already taken six SL6000 cranes since it was launched, complete with full spec SHL, 84m main boom and 84m luffing jib. They are all working in different parts of the world, from Brazil to Europe, largely on wind-turbine erection and other green-energy related projects, as well as petro-chemical refineries.

The first of the new variant model SL6000 being shown at bauma 2010 has also been ordered by Weldex specifically for this type of work, and will be joining several other smaller Kobelco cranes in the extensive Weldex fleet.

The new variant specification features an all-new 18m Heavy Duty fixed fly jib designed specifically for the wind power market, for lifting generator nacelles on to wind-turbine towers 80-120 m high.

  • CKE800: In the medium-duty class, Kobelco’s 80t capacity CKE800 which, with easy transportability and extremely good ratings for its compact size, has proved invaluable, especially for operation in confined spaces, for general civil engineering and piling applications. In addition to that, CKE800 is now offering biodegradable-oil that focuses on environmental concerns, as options.
The CKE800 on show at bauma has been ordered by UK customer BPH Equipment - a leading specialist contractor in piling, foundations and groundworks engineering, and a member of the large international construction group, Balfour Beatty.
This new machine will join the already extensive BPH fleet of 28 Kobelco crawler cranes, which includes models from 60t up to 250t capacity.

Key features of CKE800 and SL6000

The SL6000 provides the ideal combination of heavy-duty performance, economical operation and tough durability with excellent duty charts.
Main features of the SL6000 and CKE800 fully loaded models are:

  • Operator comfort - We know that operator comfort is directly related to performance. KOBELCO cranes are famous for unrivalled smoothness while performing multi-function crane operations from a 7-way adjustable luxurious seat, providing the operator with the ideal balance between comfort and ergonomics, and with full, unrestricted upper and lower view through the beamless roof construction of the front window.
A new optional wider (1200 mm) cab for the SL6000 also features load and winch camera viewing screens.

  • New powerful, fuel efficient, environment-friendly Stage 3 engines - Powerful, fuel efficient, quite running HINO water-cooled power plant with direct fuel injection, intercooler and turbo-charger provides all the needed lifting, swinging and travelling power. The SL6000 is equipped with an extremely powerful 320kW power unit and the CKE800 has 159kW. All engines are in compliance with Stage 3 (EUR 3) European Emission regulations.
Engine speed, hydraulic flow and pressure demands are coordinated by the computer-controlled Engine Speed Sensing (ESS) system, reducing speed changes in simultaneous operations to give smoother, more efficient performance.

  • Easy, efficient transport and fast assembly/disassembly - Crawler side frames, lower (and upper) boom remain on the CKE800 during transport, and with a transport weight of 41.2 tonne with crawlers, the CKE800 can travel and load itself onto a trailer, and rapidly install its own counterweight on site.
On the SL6000, it also embodies KOBELCO’s renowned ‘unit assembly system’ which optimises the transportation elements (with no individual item heavier than 45t or wider than 3m), complying with worldwide transport regulations and greatly facilitating assembly, reconfiguration and disassembly on site.

  • Large, extra-wide main and auxiliary drum capacities - The wide hoist winches provide an impressive spooling capacity of hoist rope. Their large capacity and large diameter help to prevent uneven spooling and wear while ensuring smooth operation when using a long boom for high-rise work. Also, the winches are virtually maintenance free.
On the CKE800, a choice of either power lowering mode or free-fall mode can be selected for the winch drum.
